"TailTracker," "we," "us," and "our" refers collectively to TailTracker PBC (a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation) and TailTracker Lost Pet Finder Network, Inc. (EIN 41-3039667, a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit), which jointly operate the TailTracker platform and Finder Network. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using our app, website, or SMS services ("Services"), you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Owner Data: Name, email, phone number, and location you provide.
- Pet Data: Pet's name, species, breed, age, health notes, and photos you upload.
- Finder Data: Name, email, phone number, ZIP code, and SMS consent if you volunteer for the Finder Network.
- Emergency Data: Location, time, and circumstances of a lost pet event.
- Usage Data: How you interact with our Services, via cookies and analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve our Services.
- To activate an emergency alert and coordinate the Finder Network.
- To share critical pet and location data with enrolled Finders and nonprofit staff during an active mission.
- To send SMS alerts to enrolled Finder Network volunteers (with your consent).
- To communicate with you about your account or our Services.
- To process subscriptions and payments (via our partner, Stripe).
- To generate anonymized, aggregated data for research and scientific purposes (see Section 6).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
- During an Active Mission: Your pet's profile and contact information may be shared with enrolled Finder Network volunteers and nonprofit staff solely for the purpose of lost pet recovery.
- With Operational Service Providers: With third parties necessary to operate the platform, including Firebase (backend infrastructure), Google Analytics (usage), Stripe (payments), and Twilio (SMS delivery). These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than delivering services to us.
- For Legal Reasons: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
4. SMS Communications
If you enroll in the TailTracker Finder Network and consent to SMS alerts, the following applies:
- You will receive time-sensitive lost pet recovery alerts for your local area.
- Message frequency varies based on local lost pet activity. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to cancel. Reply HELP for assistance.
- Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
5. Your Rights & Choices
- You can access or update your information in the app.
- You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
- You can cancel SMS alerts by replying STOP to any alert message.
- You can delete your account by contacting support.
6. Anonymized Data
We retain the right to use anonymized, aggregated, and de-identified data — data that cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual — without restriction. This includes use for scientific research, behavioral modeling, product development, academic publication, and partnership purposes. No personally identifiable information is included in this data.
7. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption and access-controlled database rules — to protect your data.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
